The Virginia Advanced Shipbuilding and Carrier Integration Center – VASCIC – was established in 1998 by the Commonwealth of Virginia's General Assembly.  The purpose of  VASCIC is to enhance and promote the quality and competitiveness of Virginia’s shipbuilding industry and to promote the general welfare of Virginia citizens.

 

Northrop Grumman Newport News will manage VASCIC.  In this state-of-the-art facility, Newport News along with electronic system suppliers, software suppliers, U.S. Navy laboratories and program representatives, and Virginia institutions of higher learning, will develop new technologies for aircraft carriers and advanced shipbuilding.
